For an Emerald Green, Ocean Blue Coronado
ABOUT EMERALD KEEPERS
Generations of people have enjoyed the pristine beauty of Coronado and its beaches, bays, and parks. Emerald Keepers is the only civic non-profit organization in the City of Coronado whose sole purpose is to address local needs related to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Increasing levels of trash and pollution of our waterways and air threaten the well-being of residents, the economic success of our city, and our children’s future. Emerald Keepers’ provides ecologically-focused leadership to foster awareness, provide a forum for discussion and debate, and promote achievable public-private, community-driven solutions. Emerald Keepers’ community-based programs and educational outreach encourage community involvement while fostering pride in Coronado.
WHAT WE VALUE
Five organizational values that guide Emerald Keepers in a unified direction and purpose include:
Community | Education | Science | Apolitical | Action
our vision
Emerald Keepers will be a champion for the environment by educating, advocating, implementing, and celebrating sustainable practices in order to preserve Coronado’s coastal community for generations to come.
Our Mission
Emerald Keepers’ mission is to educate the community to develop and celebrate more sustainable practices and strive to be a model city for the health of our oceans, our beach community, and the world.
Emerald Keepers began with a PLEDGE
Emerald Keepers started with a simple pledge to make a difference every day in our community:
THE EMERALD KEEPERS PLEDGE
As an Emerald Keeper of Coronado and the world, I pledge to reduce, reuse, recycle, rethink, and refuse. In doing so, I will work to eliminate single-use plastics in my daily life. I will walk or ride my bike more often and pick up three pieces of trash every day.
