Boris, Tiger and Pink Floyd

All are sucking in marine debris 24/7/365

Three marine skimmers, all named after beloved, local animals are continuously removing debris in Glorietta Bay and San Diego Bay.

Boris is at the Coronado Yacht Club and was named after a dog who loved to swim in the bay while his human picked up trash. Tiger and Pink Floyd are operating at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club. Tiger was named after a dog who living in the Cays, while Pink Floyd got its name from the flamingo who has made home in South Bay.

Skimmer facts:

• Continuous operation, 24 hours a day, every day.
• Each skimmer pumps about 450 gallons a minute (the equivalent of filling a swimming pool every 40 minutes) removing floating debris and surface pollutants such as oil.

• They require minimal maintenance and are completely recyclable at the end of their lifespan.

• Manufactured by the San Diego company KECO, each skimmer is smaller than a small trash dumpster and costs about 5 cents a day to operate.

• Skimmers were funded through grants and private donations and gifted to the Coronado and Coronado Cays yacht clubs.
