Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer and the perfect day to begin a two-week community clean-up. With six months of activity-restricting, hope pummeling COVID 19 behind us, why not apply that bottled-up energy to making our days brighter… and cleaner!
Emerald Keepers is calling on all community groups -- service clubs, churches, scouts, student clubs, classrooms, and any other form of Coronado social group – to commit to cleaning their neighborhoods and public areas. From ocean to bay, the Cays to North Island: lend a hand to CAN THE TRASH, September 7th to 21st. The collective impact of litter accumulating in Coronado (e.g., take-out disposables, single-use plastics, disposable masks and other PPE) from both on-island activities and brought to us on the tide has taken a toll on our neighborhoods, parks, beaches, parking lots, and medians. Individual participants are asked to send photos of their trash pick-up via email to EmeraldKeepers@gmail.com to be entered into a drawing to be held September 23rd. Emerald Keepers will give away sustainable products and local businesses gift certificates. All photos are due by midnight, September 21st.
