Have you ever wondered what lives beneath the surface? Rocio Bunker, PADI Ambassadiver and Training Director at Ocean Enterprises Dive Team, knows the ocean residents and their routines at La Jolla Shores where she dives each day!

Rocio Gajon grew up in the small town of La Paz, Mexico. Surrounded by fishing boats, nets and hooks, she knew early in life that she wanted to protect the fish. “I wanted my town to become a sanctuary where marine life could live and thrive,” she recalls. 

She worked at the Cortez Club Scuba Center, where she experienced the ocean every day. Her heart belonged to the ocean the moment she submerged beneath it for the first time. Since then, every step of her life has been dedicated to the oceans. Rocio became a PADI Instructor in 2009 because she wanted to introduce people to scuba, train divers to gain confidence underwater, and develop skills and knowledge to respect and protect our seas. She is also a passionate scuba diver who dedicates herself to sharing the beauty of the local underwater sceneries and other places where she travels. Her number one priority is to educate as many people as possible in ocean conservation including overfishing awareness and minimizing single use plastic consumption.
